About Gregory's Gift
In 2009, David and Lisa Wert adopted their son, Alek, from the far northeast corner of Kazakhstan – a family dream realized only through a generous financial gift given to them by a dear family friend – “Mr. Gregory” (as referred to by the Wert children).
In 2012, Gregory’s Gift was created as a way to “pay forward” that financial gift-giving to other adoptive families – a way to help other families overcome the financial obstacles associated with adoption and realize their own adoption dream.
Our mission is to increase the feasibility of adoption through the development of financial partnerships which assist families in overcoming the financial hurdles encountered during adoption.
To accomplish this mission, we aim to:
Inform others of the global and local plight of orphans, and share the real need for adoptive families, by being “the voice of orphans” in “our” community.
Engage local businesses, organizations, and the greater Pittsburgh community in service and fundraising opportunities that directly contribute to the funding of adoptive families. Through our engagement efforts, we hope to share the message that one person’s gift, whatever it may be, has the power to make a tremendous impact on the life of an orphan.
Partner with adoptive families in an effort to help them meet the financial requirements associated with adoption. This will be achieved through the provision of Interest Free Loans and Matching Grants offered through our Adoption Fund.
It is our hope that through the efforts of Gregory’s Gift, we will all realize a single individual’s capacity to make a difference, to help…bring ONE CHILD, using ONE GIFT, into ONE FAMILY!
